    Eye Clinic

September 13 CRCTC is pleased to offer an OM screening and CERF exam with the generous cooperation of Dr. Paul Scherlie.

Dr. Scherlie will conduct eye tests on Cairns and non-Cairns at a very reduced rate of $20 per dog. (Cash, check, or credit cards accepted.)

Cairn Terriers 10 and older will be examined at no charge.

Arrive with your dog between 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM. All dogs checked in before 2:00 PM will be seen.

Your dog(s) will have drops put in their eyes 15-30 minutes prior to the exam.  Exams will be staggered for those individuals bringing more than one dog.

    Testing that will be performed:

CERF (Canine Eye Registry Foundation) — should be done by one year of age and repeated annually.
OM (Ocular Melanosis) — should be done for Cairns after three years of age and repeated annually.

CERF exams are advised for all dogs and OM screening is of particular importance for Cairn Terriers.

    About OM

If you own a Cairn Terrier you may be interested to learn more about Ocular Melanosis. The Cairn Terrier Club of America has funded considerable research on OM. For more information about OM, review the general information flyer below, or visit the CTCA's health related concerns page that includes many OM related resources, including study information and research reports.
