Thank you to CRCTC for inviting me to judge the breed I love at their most exciting age - puppy through adolescent.

My comments here will be general in nature with a few specifics on Best in Sweeps and Best Opposite in Sweeps.

What a pleasing overall display of young Cairns. Generally, excellent heads and good dentition. There were a few short upper arms but the majority had good front and rear angulation. Coats were mostly excellent and several outstanding. I commend the exhibitors on their grooming - Cairns here have a look reminiscent of a working Cairn; a pleasant departure from the sculpturing that is invading Cairn rings elsewhere.

My Best in Sweeps was a thoroughly sound bitch, showing the confidence of a much more mature bitch. Beautiful headpiece, good length and breadth of muzzle with proper dentition. Her movement is impeccable with reach and drive corresponding to one another, showing off a steady topline in the process of her travel. She would grace the kennel of any serious Cairn breeder.

My Best Opposite in Sweeps lacked the maturity of the BIS but everything about him says the best is still to come. He sported a distinct stop and keenness of expression definitive of his strong type. Good bone, solid topline, promise of an impressive depth of chest and the angulation that allows him to efficiently cover the ground ahead.

Again, thank you all for this fun day and gratifying experience.
